The Stanfords’ only surviving child was their daughter, Jane Lathrop Stanford, who was born in 1868. She married Herbert Hoover in 1899. Hoover served as the 31st president of the United States from 1929 to 1933.
The Stanfords’ granddaughter, Margaret Hoover, is a political commentator and author. Her husband, John D. Stanton, is the chairman and CEO of T-Mobile US.
The Stanfords’ great-grandson, Peter Hoover Stanton, is a real estate developer. He is the co-founder of Santa Monica-based real estate investment firm CIM Group.
